Every year for the month of October BC Hydro hosts Power Smart Month, teaching BC residents to choose energy-saving products, and engage in energy-saving behaviors. Our challenge is to promote this energy-saving lifestyle, while being as energy-efficient as possible in our execution. So we went analogue, and built a 100 ft. long self-propelled Rube Goldberg machine that highlighted simple ways to save power. At the end of the track our little steel ball continued its journey into a giant Plinko board, where users could play to win power smart products. We shot the whole thing on a Red Epic, wrapped it up in a cross-platform HTML5 website and promoted it through BC Hydro’s social channels, radio and TV.

The original concept involved a more simple, contest-based approach where the users could spin the "Wheel of Deals" once each day to try and win power smart prizes. We planned in integrate the Power Pointer characters into this build to create a highly engaging animated experience.
